Biden Administration, Congressional Democrats Must Lower Drug Prices for Americans This Year By Whatever Means Necessary

WASHINGTON, D.C.
— Today, in response to reports detailing the provisions of the Biden administration’s upcoming American Families Plan, Health Care Voter Co-Chair Laura Packard issued the following statement:

“The Biden administration and Congressional Democrats must lower drug prices for the American public by expanding Medicare’s power to negotiate prices directly with drug companies—by whatever means necessary. With prices continuing to skyrocket, H.R. 3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act would deliver massive relief to Americans whose lives depend on being able to afford their medications. The bill is a win-win: Not only would it lower prices for consumers, it would also save the federal government about $456 billion over 10 years—savings
that can be used to expand health care to millions more Americans

Lowering drug prices is a top priority for Americans across party lines. Democrats must seize this opportunity to make healthy, dignified life more accessible and affordable for millions of Americans, and swiftly pass the Lower Drug Costs Now Act.”
