WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tonight, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg — a champion for gender equality and tireless fighter for justice — passed away.

Health Care Voter released the following statement from Campaign Director Rosemary Enobakhare in honor of Justice Ginsburg:
“Our hearts are with Justice Ginsburg’s family tonight. As the nation grieves the loss of a legend, we must pause to remember how vigilantly Justice Ginsburg fought to protect our health care from countless attacks. She heroically carried the weight of our democracy on her shoulders, though our democracy should never have rested on one woman’s shoulders. We are forever grateful for her service to our country.
As we pick up the fight Justice Ginsburg so tirelessly fought, we must remember what’s at stake. We’re in the midst of a pandemic that has taken the lives of 200,000 Americans. The week after the election, the Supreme Court will begin hearing Texas v. California, a case that threatens to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and strip health coverage from 130 million people living with pre-existing conditions. We need a Supreme Court that will follow in Justice Ginsburg’s footsteps and protect our access to affordable health care. Mitch McConnell created the McConnell rule to not vote for a Supreme Court Justice during an election year, and now he must stick to it.”
