With Build Back Better Act, Democrats Will Boost Health Care Access
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the White House and Congressional Democrats released the framework for their budget reconciliation package, the Build Back Better Act, which includes a number of important health care provisions, including extending Affordable Care Act subsidies, closing the Medicaid coverage gap, expanding Medicare, investing in home & community based services for seniors and people with disabilities, and more. This is a huge win for the health care voters who helped usher in this Democratic majority, but work remains to be done in order to actualize affordable health care for all Americans.
“The Build Back Better Act will help provide more accessible and affordable health care coverage for all Americans, and Congress should pass it immediately. The Affordable Care Act saved my life, and with the health care provisions in this budget reconciliation bill, millions more people will be able to afford the life-saving care they need,” said Health Care Voter Executive Director Laura Packard. “While this bill takes significant steps toward making healthcare more affordable across America, there is still work to do. We will continue to fight for paid leave and lower prescription drug prices so that everyday Americans will be able to afford life-saving medication and time-off to care for their loved ones. President Biden and Democrats in Congress have delivered a great first step, and we are eager to continue fighting for affordable, accessible, comprehensive health care for all.”
